Monday 13th December, unlucky maybe for some, but not for Roy Nuttal and David Lindo!! At the crack of dawn, Roy was patrolling the Scrubs, once again in search of the amazing birdlife that can be unearthed. And then it happened. In the depths of winter, when any self-respecting Common Redstart would be well on its travels to Africa, Roy spotted one flitting through the recently planted area to the south of Wormwood Scrubs!!
Later in the day, David Lindo confirmed that it was a common redstart (a rarity even during summer and autumn) and telephoned the British Trust for Orthnithologists.
The BTO have confirmed that this is indeed the latest ever sighting of a common redstart in Britain!!
Well done Roy and David. Now to find out why? Do you have any ideas?
