The LNR Launch Event was organised to officially recognise the new status given to parts of Wormwood Scrubs and to allow the general public to view and comment on the new management plan for the LNR.
The day was well attended by members of the Old Oak Housing Estate, pupils from Old Oak Primary School and the neighbouring estates. Fortunately the weather was glorious all day which brought the masses out.
So who was there? There was a cross contingency of interested folk, Groundwork West London, English Nature the Local Agenda 21group, community gardeners, Friends of Wormwood Scrubs, RSPB, Friends of the Earth, City Farms, Thames Valley Harriers and The Kings Troop.
The launch had a number of events for the general public to view or take part in, seed planting, face painting, horse and cart rides, animals from Vauxhall City Farm, guided walks and even a chainsaw sculptor.

The Mayor, gave a short speech, presented the prize (a family ticket for the Wildlife and Wetland Trust at Barnes), scroll and t-shirt to Shonnika Blackett-Williams for her winning design for the Logo Competition. To the rescue came Suzi Gretz (as an arranged speaker didn't turn up). Suzi's speech was succinct and well recieved (thanks Suzi).
I thought the day was great, with a positive response from the local community. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, including me. If anyone has got any photos of the day please send them to me via the internet and I'll post them here along with ours from the day.
